It has been several years since visiting the High Island side of Mcfaddin Beach. Since moving from the Baytown area, it is much closer for me to go to the beach on the Sea Rim side. Is the free beach just south of Sea Rim S.P. still open? And does the feds. keep watch for nudity on this portion of the beach. In years past I know there was a certain amount of nudity that took place on the free beach during the week days. I would appreciate any input anyone could give.
Yes. You can access McFaddin Beach from either High Island or Sea Rim SP and the entire 20 miles may be traversed with a 4WD; however, during high tide and especially at 2 feet or higher, you will be driving through a lot a water from either direction. As far as the GW goes, my observation has been that if he drives in from High Island, he usually only drives down to about the Old Pier area unless there are a lot of people out, then he may drive the entire 20 miles down to Sea Rim SP. If he drives in from Sea Rim SP, then he usually drives the entire 20 miles every time. In either case, if you don't recognize the vehicle or you are unsure, just cover up until the vehicle passes. Always a good idea, especially on the weekends as I have noticed more families and Jeep clubs out for a drive up and down the beach on the weekends. Most nudists seem to hang out around the Old Pier, about 2 miles in either direction. Have Fun!
